Update

Ok. Its been forever since I've posted last. So here's a quick update on life at our house. Ken and I went skiing last week as chaperone's for the high school. It was cold and windy but a lot of fun. I taught Ginger how to ski and nearly peed my pants on one of her wrecks!! (Love ya Ging. LOL!)
Cody has been playing basketball with the community group. He has really improved since last year. Way to go Cody!
This last weekend I went with Tyler to his annual trip to Laughlin for the band festival. He played with the middle school band and they received a superior! He also played with the percussion group and they also received a superior. Nice work Tyler! He is really good at the drums. I love to hear him play. We are looking into getting him a good set of drums. If anyone knows of a good deal, let us know.
I have been helping with the HS musical 'Oliver'. Tonight is closing night. It has been a lot of fun. This group of kids has been awesome to work with. Ken has been a great support, taking over my duties at home.
Ken started the P90X program. He sweats his guts out every night. I just laugh at him. Looks hideously painful to me. Keep up the good work honey.
Mason and Alexa are just happy to play with friends and go to school. So that's it for now. I'll try to post some picts soon.
I am looking at what my next adventure will be...not sure if I'll do the SHAC triathlon again or not. Looking at hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim. Anyone in?! Danny and Spenc???!!!!

mini vacation

Our family went to St. george for the weekend. Saturday we went swimming, rock climbing and to the Pasta Factory. Yummm! Sunday we visited with family and went to a park and Monday we went to see Mall Cop. (Lame-o!) The kids thought it was funny. The drive home was a beast. I nearly had a panic attack. Some parts of the drive were a complete white out! Stress! None the less, it was good to get away and have some fun.

School evacuation

Finally something exciting in Linconl County....I got a call from the elementry school Monday about half way thru the day, to come pick up my kids because they were evacuating the building due to a strong smell of smoke. Of, course the fire dept. came ripping down the street to investigate. Turns out that the furnace cracked or something like that. Good thing we are getting a new school!! The kids are thrilled that they got to miss school today and again tomorrow.

Ok, so now that I'm doing a bit better, I thought I'd share this. It is kind of funny, in a twisted sort of way. So our family had gone up to the high school to ride skateboards and wheeled devices for family night. I have been learning to ride Tyler's Ripstick. It is a skateboard with only two wheels and it sort of swivels. So I'm getting pretty good at it. I had been riding it for about 30 minutes and I was done so I was riding to where the rest of the family was and was just coming to a stop. I don't know what happened but obviously, my dismount was sloppy. The board went flying out from under me. It felt like there was an invisible person there and they ripped it away from me....anyway, I landed on my left side. Elbow/arm and hip. Everyone came running. All I could say (and in a whisper) was "Don't touch me." I hurt something fierce. I didn't want to admit it but I felt like I broke my arm, tore something in my shoulder and fractured my hip. My elbow was bleeding and I developed quite a bruise on my hip. Now two weeks later, my pelvis still hurts. Friday night I wasn't sure I was going to make it thru the night without going to ER. I had done 80 minutes of yoga earlier in the day and think I over did it. I am still wondering if I have a hairline fracture in my pelvis...not that anything could be done to fix it but at least I'd know if I should take it easy. Old Age stinks!!!

Scouts

Cody recently recieved his Bear scouting badge and his Religious Knot. He is such a good boy! So helpful and thoughtful! I am so proud of him. He is such a joy in my life.

The kids have been into attacking Ken lately. They think it is hilarious to ambush him. Today after church, Ken and I both went into the bedroom. I climbed into bed for a nap and ken went into the bathroom. A couple of minutes passed and the door burst open with all four kids running and ready to pounce on the bed where Ken was supposed to be laying. They all came to a screeching halt when they saw that it was only me. They quickly and quietly retreated, hoping that Ken hadn't heard them. They, of course, completed the mission a few minutes later when he was snuggled in beside me.

A day of shooting

We decided on a new adventure today....shooting. It was pretty fun. Loud. I think most of enjoyed shooting the 22 the best. The boys are all really good shots! Toward the end of our outing, Mason decided that he wanted to shoot a clay pigeon like the rest of us had. He was only allowed to use the BB gun so I threw the little bugger up and right when Mason shot, Colin Bleak who was there with us(and knowing that the BB gun wasn't going to break it) , shot at it with his shotgun. Mason was so proud of himself (and shocked!) that he was successful. It was so funny. So go with us on this! I wish I would have video recorded it. Mason's face was so hilarious! Overall....it was a nice adventure but won't mind hanging up that hat for another 20 years.

Geo Cashing

Today we went on our first geo cashing adventure. We started out by the Spring and ended up by the Sand dunes. I think we went to four sites. It was a lot of fun to search for the "treasure". The kids liked using the GPS, searching for the box and seeing what was inside. It was also fun to see new areas. And the snow added an extra element to the challenge! I think we are going again tomorrow.

Tubing

So today we decided to go tubing. As everyone knows, it takes about 2 hours to get everyone ready to go, lunch packed, tubes inflated. But we finally go going and we pull into the parking area and ken flies off the dirt road into the sagebrush. He worked and worked to get it out...only to get us further and deeper into the abyss. I went on ahead to let the kids tube and I think everyone made about 2 runs before they were ready to go home...only the truck was still stuck. I can't believe we got it out without a tow truck! But we did. I just kept thinking.... "Where is Spencer when we need him?"
